Twilight Biathlon

Frequently asked.

Can I compete if it's my first time?

Yes, as long as you are an experienced shooter. Learning the basics in the dark is not safe or fun. Read the First-Timer Guide for a complete walkthrough.

What divisions are offered?

Four divisions across two nights:

  • Friday: NV 2Gun and NV PCC — night vision required, white light prohibited.
  • Saturday: 2Gun (rifle + pistol) and PCC (pistol caliber carbine, optional pistol).

See the Schedule page for full details.

Do I need night vision?

Night vision is required only for Friday NV divisions. Saturday 2Gun and PCC are run in complete darkness using competitor-supplied white light — headlamps, weapon lights, and flashlights are all permitted.

What lighting do I need to bring?

You are responsible for all illumination. The course is well-marked but completely dark. Bring a weapon-mounted light, a headlamp, and a backup flashlight at minimum. Fresh batteries and backups are essential — a light failure on course costs time.

NV competitors: white light is not permitted during Friday divisions.

How is scoring calculated?

Your final score is your combined total time: the sum of all four shooting stage times plus your total course run time. Lower time wins. Missed targets add 20–60 seconds per miss depending on the stage. Weighting is 50% run, 50% shoot.

What firearms are allowed?
  • 2Gun (Saturday): center-fire rifle 5.45×39 or larger + center-fire pistol 9×19mm or larger.
  • PCC (Saturday): pistol caliber carbine.
  • NV divisions: follow the same firearm requirements as their Saturday counterparts.

All firearms semi-auto only. See the full Rules page for allowed calibers and prohibited ammunition.

Can I enter more than one division?

Yes. Second division entry is $50 for the same competitor. Maximum two divisions. Friday NV and Saturday standard divisions may be combined.

See the First-Timer Guide for a complete checklist.
